Made some ice cream today. Goat cheese and cherry (from Jeni’s Ice Cream recipe book). I think it’s worked out well.

So our coffeemaker has been essentially broken for at least a year. It stops repeatedly throughout the process so a pot takes constant vigilance and about 45 minutes. I know we need a new one but I like the coffee it makes and so far my patience with it hasn't snapped (I also complete other things in the kitchen while it's brewing so whatever).

Anyway, this morning I had a bright idea that I have no idea why it didn't occur to me before. I make pour over sometimes and have an electric kettle right there next to the coffeemaker. So I just went right ahead and made a big ol' pot of pour over. It's pretty good and now I'm questioning two things: why it took this long to occur to me to do this and if I actually need another coffeemaker since it didn't take too long to make.

One thing I learned in the last week or so that blew my mind: while watching, “This Old House,” Tommy taught me that the only difference between hard woods and soft woods is their sourcing.

Hard woods come from deciduous trees; soft woods from evergreen trees. Density or strength of wood has nothing to do with it. Balsa, for example, is technically a hard wood.

Update: easy fix. Just created a new account, removed devices from the old, and reinstalled with new account info.

Shoot. When I set up Tailscale I used GH as the identity provider and that’s not one you can migrate from/to. Ugh.

As follow-up, I’m probably going to now migrate from Codeberg to Forgejo, which I should’ve just done in the first place.
